In Progress: Rainbow Hexagon Blanket

I’m trying to now buy anymore yarn for a while and use up what i have. I have a lot. Like too much. So I’m trying all sorts of stash busting patterns. I made a hexagon blanket a few months back and loved the result so i thought i’d give it another go. I decided to make rainbow centres and do the final round in white to make the rainbow colours shine. Continue reading In Progress: Rainbow Hexagon Blanket

Yarn Store Review: Lion Brand studio | New York

We found ourselves right near Lion Brand Studio on day in New York and had to go have a look. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it was different to how I imagined. The space was really inviting and super colourful with lots of choices. I really loved the hand dyed cottons and wool that are made in small batches by Darrin. I didn’t realise until we left that he was there! I grabbed a bunch of these yarns and ran away before I could spend anymore money. I wish we were in New York longer so I could have done a class or two. That is something we are really lacking in Australia. Every store seemed to run classes or a social event which would be a great way to meet fellow crocheters. If you are in New York I highly recommend paying this store a visit. We walked from the High Line and the surrounding neighbourhood is so pretty.

Blue Cape Thing

I had this amazing blue yarn sitting in my pile that was calling out for something unique. I found this awesome pattern on google and had to try it. It was for a large cape style shawl, but i figured i’d just keep going until i ran out of yarn. I love love love diagram patterns, my brain simply cannot read written patterns, so this was perfect.
This took a couple of days to make and was a simple pattern after the initial rows. I guess this is a caplet of something, either way it’s so unique and lovely. I added some strings to keep it on my shoulders. I cannot wait for winter, mainly because it’s 38 Celsius right now, but also so i can wear this. Sadly it doesn’t get that cold where i live that we need wraps, scarfs, and ponchos, it’s all mainly for decoration.

Happy New Crochet Year!

img_5754
I haven’t blogged in over a month, where has the time gone! I’ve been so caught up with Christmas, work, in the process of buying a house, packing up my current house, new years eve, going back to work, and finally getting well and truly sick! Fhew, I have been crocheting, if you follow my Facebook and instagram you would have seen it 😉
I’ve made a few shawls, scarfs, started a few blankets, an even finished a few! I’ll put the details up over the next few weeks. I’ve got a lot of crochet plans for this year so hopefully it doesn’t go that fast!
